Day 131, 132, 133 and 134: Doing Nothing and Arriving in Labuan Bajo

Day 131, 132 and 133

This bed is so comfy and the room so lovely that it was hard to walk up this morning but the lure of a buffet breakfast always gets me moving. And my, it was good. There was a salad section, a cooked breakfast bit, curries, pastries and a really cool section full of Indonesian delights, yum.

We then head down to the pool and let the sunbathing commence. I don't normally bunch so many days together but really this cycle just continues each day and I thought it was be a bit boring repeating it all. We do get really in to doing lengths in the pool and I quite comfortably manage 400m which I'm quite chuffed with.

In the afternoons, we head upstairs and read books or blog whilst watching good/bad TV about storage wars and Sons of Liberty. All this is shamefully lazy but we need to save cash and this hotel is the perfect place to do it. I could get used to this.

Day 134

And then our lazy bubble bursts. Today is when our real adventuring around Indonesia beings, we are leaving our little slob out in Bali and flying to Labuan Bajo in search of dragons. The airports is bit odd here, instead of not being able to take any liquids through like most airports, we actually can't put any big liquids in our big bags. Cue us having to unpack at check in to get out the rum we've smuggled. We also have to pay an overweight baggage fee as wings only allows 10kg! Grr.

Getting through the rest of the airport is easy though and after grabbing Ben some more flip flops, his finally died this morning, we wander around the airport taking in all the lovely Bali crafts including huge eagle kites and beautiful fabric. The plane is small and noisy but the view out of it are amazing, I can't wait to explore this country! We land to rain which is not welcomed but the taxi driver tells us it will go soon, so no worries. Our hotel is a little out of the town, up a steep hill but with amazing views of the bay below.

We check in, book a boat trip to Rinca tomorrow to see the dragons and then explore the town. It's very much a little fishing town that has blossom into a tourist haven with the popularity of the Komodo National Park but still has its little town quirks, we walk past tiny shops and bustling food courts till we spot an Italian restaurant with amazing views of the sun set in the bay. We are both so excited about seeing the dragons tomorrow that we don't get much sleep tonight but really, we're going to see Dragons!
